学术带头人：胡远扬教授
男，1949年生。教授、武汉大学生命科学学院病毒系主任。1973年开始师从病毒学家高尚荫院士，在武汉大学病毒研究所从事病毒学特别是昆虫病毒研究和生物电镜技术研究。具有稳定的科研方向并形成了自己的特色。1981年武汉大学病毒学系硕士研究生毕业后，1985～1986年曾在日本名古屋大学，昆虫病毒学家S.Kawase教授研究室从事家蚕细小DNA病毒的分子病毒学研究及昆虫小RNA病毒研究。1993年和1997年在日本北海道大学昆虫病理学家T.lizuka教授和H.Bando博士研究室从事昆虫病毒分子病毒学研究。
三十多年来主要致力于昆虫病毒理论及应用基础研究。特别是昆虫细小DNA病毒、昆虫小RNA病毒及昆虫质型多角体病毒研究。曾任武汉大学生命科学学院副院长、院长。现任中国微生物学会常务理事、中国微生物学会病毒专业委员会副主任。中国电子显微镜学会理事、湖北省电子显微镜学会理事长。1992年获得国务院颁发的政府特殊津贴；1997年被评为湖北省有突出贡献的中青年专家。
